MICP Capital Areas of Service |
|
MICP Capital and our predecessor companies and affiliates have real world,
management, and advisory experience in a broad array of functional areas within
transportation, logistics and the supply chain. The resumes of our Team members
provide more detailed work experience on an individual level, but the broad Areas of
Service of the firm are described below:
- Marine Transport – We have extensive experience in both the containerized and non-containerized trades, with work for liner carriers, port authorities, terminal operators, container and other equipment leasing, short sea shipping and inland waterways. This work has covered marketing, operations and financial areas. We have also been active with shippers and consignees who purchase ocean and marine services, helping them with provider selection, supply chain improvement, strategy development, hiring, and implementation.
- Trucking and Distribution – Experience includes transportation operating companies in truckload (TL) and less-than-truckload (LTL), drayage and intermodal trucking services, private fleets, and specialized commodities. We have also worked with third parties to the industry in truck brokerage, repair and maintenance, pooling and port authority management, and equipment leasing. The carrier work in ocean and rail has involved assignments in trucking as part of complete origin-destination offerings.
- Rail and Infrastructure – MICP Capital, as a firm and as individuals, has been active in rails, primarily in the containerized goods area. Clients have included the Class I railroads, shortlines, intermodal service companies, railcar and equipment providers, and shippers, as well as for investors and providers to the industry for logistics hubs, acquisitions, and 3PL services. We have also performed assignments for governmental agencies in rail and intermodal policy.
- Third Party Logistics, Forwarding; Ocean, Air and Domestic – MICP Capital has broad experience in the 3PL area, in both international and domestic trades. We have run 3PLs, served as consultants to them in marketing, operations, personnel and IT, and worked on assignments for acquisitions. We believe that having both an inside and outside view of the industry gives us unique perspective in such areas of shipper/ consignee needs and direction, 3PL strengths and weaknesses, competitors and likely substitutes, IT needs and services, and financial assessments.
- Supply Chain Management – The needs and direction of the beneficial cargo owners (BCO’s) are the central focus of assignments and experience in this area. These shippers and consignees drive the world’s supply chains and transportation industry. MICP Team members have long experience inside and supporting BCO organizations, in such areas as network optimization, establishing new locations, transportation management, cost control, reverse logistics, procurement support and coordination, and IT services. Understanding the dynamics of the BCO’s processes involving buyers, finance, vendors, IT and logistics departments is a key element of these assignments.
- Information Technology – MICP experience and assignments in the IT area come in several forms. We have served transportation service providers for both internal and customer-focused IT work. We have served supply chain companies such as warehousemen, 3PLs, brokers and distributors as well. Finally, we provide guidance to IT service providers in their service offerings, personnel and strategies.
- Investors and Developers – The MICP Team has both conducted mergers and acquisitions and served as advisors for transactions in the field of transportation and logistics. The work has included industry assessment, identifying potential targets, candidate evaluation, due diligence and roll-up strategies. Clients have included strategic buyers within the industry, private-equity companies, holding and trust companies, law firms, and investment banks.
