James C. Chandler's career in transportation and logistics has centered on developing new markets and businesses through value based assessments that drive capital investments. Broad experience in maritime, trucking and rail industries has included the support of financing through business feasibility evaluations, fleet and company valuations tied to mergers and acquisitions, and the formulation and implementation of strategy to manage change. Consulting clients have come from industries across the transportation and logistics spectrum, and includes ports, shipping lines, equipment suppliers, freight forwarders, and waste management companies.

Mr. Chandler previously worked as a manager at Southern Pacific where he developed the methodology for evaluating branch operations to determine candidates for sale or abandonment. At Itel Transportation Services he executed all aspects of acquisitions and divestures, and was instrumental in developing the strategy that led to the creation of Itel Distribution Systems, a company that has since been absorbed into APL Logistics. As an executive at PLM Trailer Leasing, a subsidiary company he helped create and grow, responsibilities included overall branch operations as well as strategy, budgeting and purchasing. At Carlisle Leasing International, the predecessor company to SeaCube, he had responsibility for leading the development of the strategic plan. Mr. Chandler earned a Masters degree in Economics at the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance at the University of Colorado.

 

Dana K. S. Lee has over 20 years of experience in the container shipping and related services industry working in the US, Hong Kong and China. His areas of expertise include marketing strategy, business development, product management and information technology. He has built long term relationships with all major transportation and logistics providers in the Asia Pacific Region particularly in China. He was born in Hong Kong and speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.

He received a BS in Business Administration from Boston University and started as a management trainee with Transamerica Leasing now TAL. After various internal projects regarding container yard and marine chassis, in 1998 he relocated to Hong Kong as Territory Manager for TAL’s Greybox Logistics Services. He helped expand the Greybox service offering and the Asian customer base. He moved to Triton Container as Director Asia Pacific for International Asset System (IAS) a separate subsidy. After a number of years in Asia he moved to the US Headquarters for IAS to head up the Product Development and Service Implementation teams. He managed the joint venture with Motorola for container yards using RFID. His various consulting projects since IAS including working with PE companies for industry investment in 3PL’s, NVOCC’s and IT providers. His most recent assignment was in China, expanding product development and customer base for an auto logistics company.

 

James Ward  has over 35 years of experience with more than 25 years of IT leadership supporting a variety of industries. Before joining MICP Capital he worked as a a consultant in the transportation industry with recent assignments as Virtual CIO in trucking, freight forwarding, distribution and warehousing. Prior to consulting he was the CIO for Pacer International a large transportation industry based in Dublin Ohio and purchased by XPO. The CIO for Global shipping companies including Nortan Lilly, S5 and Inchcape Shipping helping to build out most of their global IT capabilities.

He began his career as a programmer in the manufacturing industry working on multiple ERP systems. He advanced his career working up to systems analyst, manager of development and Director of IT. He holds a BS in computer software and an MS in Computer Science. He also holds multiple certifications in IT to include MSCE, CCP.

He is a highly decorated military veteran from the US Army.

 

Patrick Bird  is an experienced business development and investment executive with more than fifteen years of experience in the oil and shipping sectors. He is known for his strong understanding of international markets from living and working throughout the US, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and across Africa during his career.

A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Patrick has held various positions in terminal operations, liner sales and new port business development with the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. Following Maersk, Patrick was Chief Commercial Officer & Head of Government Relations for Orlean Invest, Africa’s largest oil & gas logistics company, where he was accountable for $750 million turnover in 2016. In his role as CCO, he was responsible for generating new business from and coordinating the relationships with over 150 oil & gas related companies.

After Orlean Invest, Patrick became the Managing Director and Global Head of Maritime Advisory for Seabury Capital, a boutique transportation focused investment bank and strategic consulting business headquartered in New York. Today, his primary focus continues to be on large scale project development and transaction advisory for strategic and financial investors. He currently resides in London, England.

 

Rod Miller  has a 36 year career in the shipping and logistics industry. Mr. Miller worked with Hanjin Logistics, OOCL Logistics, APL, and Sea Land service in senior management positions. Some of the positions include VP of Intra Asia Services, President of ACS (the logistics division of APL), VP and General Manager APL Europe which involved starting up and running the European shipping service for APL. VP OOCL Logistics Europe, and chief executive and general manager Hanjin Logistics. Mr. Miller served in several international assignments including Dubai, Hong Kong (3 times), Philippines, and London.

During his career Mr. Miller has worked very closely with beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), interfacing with buyers, vendors, service providers, and customer logistical staff to develop and provide Shipping and Logistical services and solutions in the client's supply chain. Additionally Mr. Miller has experienced managing and running international business units in a multi cultural environment.

Mr. Miller is a graduate of the University of Texas holding a BBA.
