Roger A. Passal - Principal

Roger A. Passal has over 35 years of experience in the transportation industry. Prior to MICP, Mr. Passal was a Principal of Manalytics International, a transportation consulting firm, and after its acquisition by TranSystems he became a Vice President and managed the San Francisco office. Mr. Passal's consulting assignments at Manalytics/TranSystems covered a broad range of strategic planning, investment due diligence, equipment valuation, financial analysis, operations process analysis, IT and market research. Clients included ports, ocean carriers, other transportation providers such as stacktrain operators and chassis pool managers, container leasing companies, 3 PL's and software providers. This work included support on three bond issues for a major US port, totaling over $500 million.

Before Manalytics, Mr. Passal was co-founder of Container Applications International (CAI), now the 5th largest container leasing company, where he set up a worldwide operations network, and helped establish the first major equipment funding facility initiated at $35 million. Prior to CAI, he was Vice-President of Operations for Itel Containers. At Itel he managed worldwide operations, and equipment technical and purchasing programs. In addition, his responsibilities included IT, equipment resale programs, and Itel Ventures managing three outside investments and joint ventures. While at Itel he also managed two successful container fleet acquisitions, FlexiVan ($250 M) and Xtra ($150 M). Prior to his position at Itel he was an IT consultant designing equipment tracking and billing systems for two container lessors and a railcar leasing company. Mr. Passal has an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BA in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Connecticut.
